  Marine Resources Advisory Group (UK)

Consultant editor, bringing persuasive clarity and a sense of narrative to a series of policy briefs on fisheries for DFID. I radically overhauled the text and visual content ,  while  worrying away at the scientific and economic accuracy and social and environmental pertinence .

Palawan Tropical Forestry Protection Programme (Philippines)

Working closely with office and field staff to re-define their activities and objectives on an island troubled by fringe extremist groups at the start of the 'War on Terror'. Together we built a new logical framework for the whole project and the extension bid to the EU was successful.  An invaluable opportunity to understand more about development agencies and how they make decisions.

Oxfam/Heinemann Worldfocus (Indonesia)

I wrote and photographed for this book while making programmes in Indonesia for Channel 4/4 Learning. Careful planning and consultation meant that the two resources complemented each other to make a useful package for teachers tackling an unfamiliar region

ERA Handbook to the Niger Delta
(Editor)

Already in preparation during the arrest and execution of Ken Saro-Wiwa, the first authoritative text on this troubled group of ecosystems had been long overdue.  As far as allowed by the committed authors (soil scientist and lawyer respectively), I edited the massive text into a readable but information-packed handbook for campaigners, lawyers, development and community workers.
